| Steps to Define Your Personal Style Many people desire a home that reflects who they are, what they love and how they like to live. Frequently, homeowners tell me “they know the style they like, but do not know how to achieve it in their home.” My goal is to assist clients in discovering their personal style to create a home of their dreams. My design process for any new design project begins with a phone consultation. At this time, I ask a few questions concerning your decorating needs and inquire as to whether you have looked through design magazines and saved photos of rooms, paint colors, furniture or other room elements you would like in your own home. At our first meeting, we will discuss the designs you selected in the magazines and the areas where you need designer consultation and services. Your answers to these additional questions will help us to define your personal style.  |

 Will your room be used by the family for everyday living or just occasionally for entertaining? How many people are in the family? Are there children, pets or elderly? What are the ages of the children? Will the room be used for several activities?
What is the room size? Do you have blueprints or floor plans? Do you like the traffic flow? Do you feel comfortable when watching TV, reading or entertaining? What are the architectural features in the room? Does the room have natural light or will you need additional lighting? Do you need more storage for books, toys, TVs or clothes? What color palettes does your family prefer? Do you like warm or cool colors? Do you want to be energized or relaxed? What colors make you happy? Do you want a traditional, formal décor or something more modern and contemporary? Do you prefer a casual country look or a casual elegant Tuscan look? Do you have a special piece—a unique pillow, a piece of art you picked up on vacation, a handmade pottery piece—around which we could base a decorative scheme? Do you prefer to decorate around a theme such as Nautical or Western? Do all the family members have the same taste?  What type of window treatments do you prefer? Blinds, drapes, shades, shutters, valances or a combination? What type of flooring and fabrics do you prefer? Do you want your design project to be eco friendly and use sustainable products? What is your budget? Do you want your design project to be accomplished in different phases? If so, what part can we do now? What can we add later? Is there a deadline? What can remain in the room and what will be removed or used in another room? Is there any furniture we can reupholster or refinish?
